As a student pastor at First Presbyterian Cranbury, I led a series of adult ed classes using Amy Jill Levine’s book Sermon on the Mount: A Beginner's Guide to the Kingdom of Heaven and Scott Erickson’s book Honest Advent and associated art.
I also envisioned and implemented creative liturgy, preached relevant sermons throughout the year, and participated in pastoral care.
Council Inern + Student Pastor |Hopewell Council of Churches
September 2022- May 2023
As the Hopewell Council of Churches intern, I participated in HCC meetings, coordinated, atteneded, and served at HCC events. For example, I played a signifcant role in the Sunday of Service program which benefitted a local nonprofit, the Chubby's Project. I crafted the morning commissioning service and the evening vespers celebration. Moreover, I assisted in the planning and execution of the 5K walk with its five interactive information stations related to food insecurity and mental wellness. The event raised over $15,000.
I participated in a different congregation's service nearly every Sunday. I acted as either liturgist or preacher. When needed, I would fill in for my supervisor by leading adult Sunday school and by preaching during the service. Fo the council's weekly lenten services, I crafted the liturgy used in all services, participated in worship--both through the liturgy and through preaching.
I also participated in pastoral care by shadowing my supervisor on pastoral visits to parishoners and Chubby's Project lunch recipients.
I led a successful book discussion group on the book Church on Purpose which led to robust discussions across denominational lines regarding new frontiers for ministry, reimagining evangelism, and theology of place.
